Who Are We
1089 (7th Glasgow) Squadron are based on Killin Street in Shettleston. We are one of 900 cadet squadrons and 32 detached flights based across the UK and some overseas locations, such as Gibraltar. Together we make up the RAF Air Cadets.
Our current Patron is HRH The Duchess of Cambridge and our Ambassador is Honorary Group Captain Carol Vorderman. All of our staff are volunteers, including our Commandant, Air Commodore Dawn McAfferty.

The officer commanding 1089 (7th Glasgow) Squadron is Flying Officer Andrea Beeney. She is supported by a diverse and committed staff team. Cadets can join from the age of 12 once they are in year S2 at school and can stay until the age of 20 years old. We parade on a Tuesday and Friday evening from 7pm until 9:45pm and have activities running regularly on weekends.
We believe all young people can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.
